Android users should be careful with a number of apps in their phones. Because there are some of them that are part of premium SMS fraud.

It was discovered by cybersecurity software company Avast. Reportedly the victim can lose US $ 40 or equivalent to Rp 570 thousand per month. The scam will disguise itself as tools such as photo editing, camera filters, games and QR code scanners.

According to Avast, this application is included in the UltimaSMS campaign. The perpetrator will get a number of data from the victim such as the location of the phone, the IMEI number as well as the country area code number and the language used by the victim.

BGR noted, users will see the request screen when logging into the malicious application. They were asked to enter their mobile number and/or email address in the language used.

Shortly after that, will immediately get a premium SMS service.

The app attracts a lot of users because it's created with an interesting profile and description, Avast said. The app is also advertised on a number of other social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.

The malicious app was reported by Avast to Google, which eventually removed it on the Play Store. But the application can still act if it is still owned in the smartphones of Android users.
