As reported in CNBC Indonesia, the Law No. 11 of 2020 on job creation spawns one of the new rules, the question of Indonesian job loss guarantee (JKP). With JKP, workers affected by termination of employment (layoffs) can guarantee assistance after layoffs. Workers still get a maximum 'salary' for 6 months after being laid off.

This is law stated in PP No. 37 of 2021 on the implementation of the JKP program that took effect on February 3, 2021. These 'salary' payments come from some governments and self-employed people's money under the dues scheme.

How does this scheme work?

The Minister of Manpower (Menaker), Ida Fauziyah, during a working meeting with Commission IX in the House of Representatives wednesday (7/4/2021), explained about the benefits received by workers who are members of jkp participation when they get layoffs, namely:

1. Cash

- 45% of wages for the first 3 months

- 25% of wages for the next 3 months

- cash assistance for a maximum of 6 months

2. Access job market information

- job market information services and or bridge guidance

- performed by an introductory work or interworking officer

3. Job Training

- competency-based training

- conducted through government-owned, private or corporate job training institutions

This scheme only works for employees who apply for BP Jamsostek services.
