The Indonesian Government CultivatePancasila Values to Students Learning at Home

For now, the curriculum achievement is not the goal of learning and teaching activity due to the drawbacks affected by the Coronavirus outbreak. The emergency curriculum is needed to be implemented to adjust to the current situation, as suggested by the Ministry of Education and Culture as well as stated by the Joint Ministerial Decree on Learning Guidelines during Covid-19 Pandemic.

Nonetheless, learning at schools with the teachers' monitoring and supervising is different than learning at home with more flexibility. Some values being taught at school might not be taught at home, since every family has different culture and comes from various backgrounds. Since the cultivation of Pancasila values is considered to be essential in every learning and teaching activities, the Ministry of Education and Culture put some efforts to keep it going on in spite of the distance learning (PJJ). The Pancasila values being discussed here cover religious/spiritual aspect, behavioral and mental aspects like being helpful, supportive, creative, independent, and also the critical thinking aspect.

There are two ways the government manage the cultivation of Pancasila values to keep going on during the PJJ. "The first way is by injecting the values into the Learning from Home (BelajardariRumah) TV programme that is aired on TVRI," as said by Hendarman, the Head of the Character Strengthening Centre (Puspeka). The second way is by asking parents for cooperation in monitoring and supervising their children. Hendarman stated that parents should double their role, to also be the teachers who cultivate Pancasila values in each of their children. They can use the suggested approach: bring around, comprehend, follow, and persuade others to do the same. This can be applied in the smallest realistic thing like asking the children to do the prayer on time, do the schoolwork in a disciplined manner, submit the tasks on time, help other family member who needs help, able to control the gadget use, help mothers doing the chores, and many more instances.

By cultivating this, Hendarman stated, that hopefully it would create a superior human resources for the sake of the future. Hopefully it will create the resilient youth of the future, who are ready to face the technological, social, and environmental challenges.
