One account on Facebook features several photos claiming to be the location of a halal casino in Saudi Arabia. The photos show many men wearing turbans and robes gathering at tables and playing cards.

"Judi Casino Halal in Saudi Arabia," "Gambling Casino Halal in Saudi Arabia," the narrative contained in the upload reads.

However, is there really a halal casino in Saudi Arabia?

Citing from  Turnbackhoax.id page, the photo was not the location of the halal casino as claimed the upload on Facebook. It was a baloot card tournament held in saudi Arabia's capital, Riyadh in 2018.

Baloot is a popular trick card game in the Gulf states, especially in Saudi Arabia. The game bears a resemblance to the French card game Belote.

The year 2018 is the first year of the official tournament of card games in Saudi Arabia. The tournament was attended by about 12 thousand people with a total prize of one million riyals for the four best teams.

In its opening ceremony, senior cleric Sheikh Adel al-Kalbani attended the event as a move by the Saudi government to quell criticism from conservatives who banned card and chess games even though they did not contain gambling. Gambling laws in Saudi Arabia are illegal.
