The names of the three houses of worship that will form the site of the Abraham Family House in Abu Dhabi have been revealed. They are Imam Al Tayeb Mosque, St Francis Church and Moses Ben Maimon Synagogue.

The Abu Dhabi Media Office said the three houses are targeted to open in 2022. The Saadiyat Island project, which aims to inspire tolerance, is 20 percent complete.

The Abraham Family House was inspired by the Document on Human Fraternity, which was signed during Pope Francis's visit to the UAE in February 2019. The head of Pope Francis's Roman Catholic Church and Al Azhar High Priest, Ahmed El Tayeb, closely follow the progress of this development.

The project is overseen by the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity and has been designed by a Ghanaian-British architect, David Adjaye. This independent committee is made up of religious and cultural leaders who seek to promote tolerance.

The whole complex will depict the shared values of the Arahamic religions, namely Islam, Christianity and Judaism. Inside is a cultural center that will show human solidarity, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.

The design of this project was first unveiled by the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of New York Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in 2019 during the second meeting of the High Committee of Human Fraternity (HCHF).

The designs were presented to Pope Francis and the High Priest during a meeting in November 2019.

"The Ibrahim Family House symbolizes harmonious coexistence between religions and maintains the unique character of each religion. It symbolizes Abu Dhabi's vision for human brotherhood and instills coexistence into the UAE's already diverse cultural structure," said the Chair of the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture (DCT), Mohamed Al Mubarak.

Overseeing the development of this iconic project is said to be inspiring and reflects the UAE's efforts to embody the values of the Human Fraternity Document and develop its lofty principles.

As a place for study, dialogue and worship, the Abrahamic Family Home will become an inspiring global cultural landmark and symbol emphasizing shared values of coexistence and harmonious understanding.

The iconic geometric architecture of the three cubes will be the main point. During the design phase, members of religious communities around the world were engaged and consulted, to ensure consistency and adherence to their respective religious requirements and teachings.
