School Reopening Decision Overshadowed by Politics

The issue of school reopening is such a polemic in the United States. An analysis performed by the Brookings Institution shows that politics play a major role in the decision of reopening schools across the US. President Donald Trump himself says that it is important to reopen schools in order to jumpstart the economy of the country.

Per 13 August 2020, there are lots of schools reopen as a response to the order already, although also lots of schools still prefer conducting virtual instruction. Those schools planning on reopening schools with in-person instruction are schools in counties where 55% of voters supported Trump in 2016 election. Whereas the schools planning to conduct the instruction virtually are in counties where 35% of voters are against Trump in 2016 election.
