The World Health Organization's Emergency Committee (WHO) warned of the possibility of the emergence of a new, more dangerous variant of Covid-19.

Pprobability of the emergence of an emergency spread globally of new, potentially more dangerous variants that may be more difficult to control," the WHO committee statement quoted by AFP on Thursday (15/7).

WHO based this prediction after monitoring the rapid increase of global Covid-19 cases to reach half a million corona infections in a day, the majority due to the spread of delta variant corona virus.

However, WHO did not elaborate further on the results of their research regarding the possible emergence of this new variant of Covid-19.

Who highlighted the rapid increase in cases in the Asian and African regions. In particular, WHO discussed Indonesia which is now shifting India's position as the country with the highest daily Covid-19 cases in Asia.

In addition, WHO also highlighted Myanmar's increasingly worrying condition as political upheaval intensifies, resulting in the abandonment of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Who also regrets that there are still so many major sporting events held in the midst of the increase in cases of Covid-19 globally, such as the Euro and the Olympics.

Not only in areas with high cases, a number of countries that have begun to recover, such as Australia and the United States, have also experienced a spike in Covid-19 in recent times.

Australia has been forced to implement lockdowns in some areas, such as Sydney, to stem the rapid covid-19 wave in the past month.

Meanwhile, the U.S. also experienced a spike in Covid-19 cases amid president Joe Biden's efforts to rise after a one-year pandemic.
