Hundreds of London Ahmadiyya worshippers will gather at ten branch and central mosques for the first time since the start of the pandemic. The event was again held as the longest-running claimed Islamic convention in the UK.
Reported from The London Economic, Wednesday (4/8), Ahmadi worshippers will gather in mosques that are also broadcast virtually with thousands of other worshippers from all over the UK. This activity was held for three days and communal worship at the event known as 'Jalsah Salanah'.
Before the pandemic, more than 35 thousand Ahmadiyya pilgrims from around the world attended the last Jalsah held in 2019. This year, only Dual-vaccinated Britons were allowed into the meeting place to attend Jalsah.
Those unable to attend in person will gather to witness the procession together at 40 Ahmadi Muslim mosques in the UK including in 10 locations in London, such as the first purpose-built mosque in London, fazl mosque in Wandsworth, and the UK's largest mosque Baitul-Futuh in Merton.
Mosques and centres across the UK will put up screens to join the event and will serve the same food served in Hampshire. In addition to the requirements for multiple vaccinations, participants must provide proof of negative registered Covid-19 test results in order to enter. Face masks will also be placed in all enclosed spaces.
The summit of Jalsah is the appearance of the leader of the global Ahmadiyya Muslim Congregation, Mirza Masroor Ahmad, who will deliver a speech to worshippers in three days of Jalsah. The purpose of the event is said to highlight their peaceful teachings and enable participants to increase their knowledge and understanding of their teachings and practices.
Imran Khalid, an Imam based at Baitul Futuh Mosque said the title was the first since the pandemic. "This is the first time since the pandemic began, our members have been able to meet and worship together with our leaders," he said.
"Although many Ahmadi Muslims cannot travel to the Jalsah site itself, London's Ahmadi Muslims will hold a mini satellite event to gather and join in the experience. We will prepare the same curry served 50 miles down Jalsah street, and put on our best clothes to join in this exhilarating event at our mosque," he said.
