Trade Minister Muhammad Lutfi is optimistic that Jakarta will become the mecca of muslim fashion in the world. This was conveyed at the Embracing Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW): Fashion Parade 1, which was held in Gelora Karno, Jakarta, today.

"This afternoon we will marathon to see the Muslim fashion industry in Indonesia, to make Jakarta the mecca of muslim fashion in the world. We saw the first section, which is the section for academics. From there we can see that with the collaboration of the private sector, the private sector, academia, associations, and also combined with the ecosystem that will be prepared by the minister of education and culture, "he said, this Thursday (11/18/2021).

He explained, the Islamic fashion industry has a large market of USD 11 billion. As for him, so far Indonesia has only exported USD 500 million.

"So actually the opportunity to enlarge the industry is huge. Therefore, support from associations, employers, support from academics, and the government is very important," Lutfi explained.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Trade, Lutfi said, is tasked with being an aggregator in achieving that goal.

"So this is what we must advance that the Islamic fashion industry does not belong to Muslims only. The Islamic fashion industry will be able to advance because of the diversity of Indonesia. With its diversity we will emerge as champions," he said.

"And I consider that this is a good first step and hopefully we can create this not a form of diversity, but as tolerance, where it will make Indonesia, Indonesian ambassadors, can create good business value," he concluded.
