Jobless Claims for Unemployment Benefits Plummet for the First Time since the Outbreak

The Coronavirus outbreak has brought lots of people to the jobless point. Before the pandemic, the jobless claims hover around 700,000. Whereas after the pandemic, it peaked at nearly 7 million jobless claims in the US in March. Since then, it fell down and stayed around 1.3 and 1.8 million for weeks.

However, per today, the Pandemic Unemployment Programme are receiving 487,000 applicants for jobless aid. This programme is aimed to give aid to self-employed people, gig workers, and others who are not qualified for unemployment benefits.

The people applied for unemployment benefits themselves are plummeting from around 15.5 million to 604,000 people. These numbers are considered significant since the record tracked from March, in the beginning of the virus outbreak.
