A photograph taken in a construction site in Rinca Island - which is included in Komodo National Park - went viral a couple of days ago. It is a photo of a Komodo dragon approaching a lorry loading the materials for the government's construction of Jurassic Park project. The project itself is actually initiated to maintain the conservation as well as to enhance the tourism sector on the site.

BasukiHadimuljono, the Public work and Housing (PUPR) Minister averred that the construction in the KomodoNational Park - which has been entitled as UNESCO's world heritage site - adheres to the environment, social aspects, and economy. "We are always accompanied by Komodo National Park rangers which assures the construction process does not damage or disturbKomodo's habitat," he claims.

Protests have also heard from West Manggarai communities joined under the FORMAPP, criticizing the use of heavy machineries and how it has affected the local ecosystem as the natural habitat of Komodo dragon. The association also demands the Indonesian government to deter this "exploitative" project.
