The Coronavirus pandemic has made people to stay at home, with no tolerance to any kind of travelling. Qantas - an Australian airlines -, however, has initiated a novel kind of flight that is called "Flying to Nowhere". These tickets were in fact sold out within only 10 minutes. It is a flight in which the airplanes take off and land at the same place, so it is literally flying to nowhere. It is reported that it gives opportunity to people wanting to see Australia from above, in peace, without hurry, in this time of pandemic. This type of "Flying to Nowhere" from Qantas has later on been done by some other airlines from Hong Kong, Japan, Hungary and many more.

However, some communities have voiced their arguments against this innovation. Some said it is not environmentally friendly, since it caused pollution coming with it. Singapore Airlines wanted to launch this programme as well, but they received a great deal of criticism and they decided to cancel it. As for alternative, they offer dinners and films on airplanes that stayed on the ground. The fare for thisprogramme varied from 53 Singapore dollars (converted 33 euros) to 642 Singapore dollars (400+ euros). People who managed to getthe tickets were also given a tour of the airplane cockpit.

Netherlands with its Dutch airlines has different position on this. "For us, flying means getting to a destination. We don’t fly only for the sake of flying. Moreover, this is not in line with our sustainability goals," as TUI says. The spokesperson of Transavia also says with the similar tone, "No, we do not, and do not intend to do this. We want to take our passengers to beautiful destinations. We are committed to this every day. Bringing passengers to their family, their business meeting, friends or holiday destination. This does not fit in with that."
