Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD announced the termination of all activities of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI).

This was expressed by Mahfud MD in a press conference, Wednesday (30/12/2020).

FPI since June 21 2019 has de jure disbanded as a mass organization, but as an organization, FPI continues to carry out activities in violate order and violate the law," said Mahfud MD as quoted by Kompas TV.

"Such as acts of violence, sweeping unilaterally, provocation," he said.

Mahfud MD said based on statutory regulations and in accordance with the Constitutional Court decision, dated 23 December 2014, the government banned FPI activities and would stop any FPI activities.

"Because FPI no longer has the legal standing, either mass organizations or ordinary organizations,"

"If there is an organization acting on behalf of FPI, it is deemed not to exist and must be rejected, starting today," said Mahfud.

The termination of FPI activities was mentioned by Mahfud MD as stated in a Joint Decree of the six top leaders of ministries and institutions.

Namely the Minister of Home Affairs, Minister of Law and Human Rights, Minister of Communication and Information, Attorney General, Chief of Police, and Head of BNPT.

Meanwhile, in the press conference, Mahfud MD was accompanied by Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Head of the Indonesian State Intelligence Agency (BIN)Budi Gunawan, Menkumham Yassona Laoly, and Minister of Communication and Information Jhonny G Plate.
