A husband is responsible for his wife and children because he is the head of the family. However, will the husband bear the sin if his wife does not want to be veiled.

Reported from About Islam, Tuesday (2/2), Associate Professor in the department of Islamic Studies in English, Al-Azhar University, Egypt, Mohammad S. Alrahawan, stated That Allah has commanded husbands and fathers to take their responsibilities in teaching and give sincere advice to their wives and neighbors.

O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are [appointed] angels, harsh and severe; they do not disobey Allah in what He commands them but do what they are commanded.’’ (At-Tahrim verse 6)

Prophet Muhammad SAW said, "You are all guardians and responsible for your people. The ruler is the guardian of his people, the man is the guardian of his family, the woman is the guardian and is in charge of the house of her husband and his descendants; so you are all guardians and responsible for your people," (HR. Al-Bukhari and Muslim).

But the Daee differ on whether a husband will be held accountable for his wife if he neglects to fulfill his obligations to Allah. Some say, "It is only the husband who is responsible for rebuking his wife, and his wife is responsible for what she has done before Allah on the Day of Resurrection."

This is based on the statement of the Qur'an, "And every soul shall not be blamed except against itself, and no bearer of burdens shall bear the burden of others," (Al-An'am verse 164). Wallahu alam.
