Students of University of Muhammadiyah Malang Empower ‘’ Bank Sampah ‘’ Program

Five Students from University of Muhammadiyah Malang are conducting community service activities by students (PMM). This program is a replacement from the student study service  (KKN) during the Covid-19 pandemic. Directorate of Research and Community Service (DPPM) said that these activities and programs aim to train students to be able to socialize and empower the community, especially in improving the creative economy.

In this group of 16 6th wave, Bhagas and his four friends are doing one of the programs which is located in Supit Urang RW Village. 05 Mulyorejo Subdistrict Sukun Malang is an activity to empower waste banks. This activity started on Saturday, June 26, 2021.

Bank Sampah is a system of collective dry waste management (gotong royong) that encourages the community to play an active role in it. Bank Sampah will accommodate, sort and distribute economic value waste to the market (collectors / lapak) so that people get economic benefits from saving the waste.

"The main purpose of this Bank Sampah activity is to help handle waste processing optimally and realize the community's healthy and clean environment. And also the Bank Sampah is implemented to turn waste into something more useful in a society that has economic value. With the hope that this activity continues to run in order to realize a solutive village." Said Bhagas
