Kapal Motor (KM) Sangiang will be used as a place of integrated floating isolation to the treatment of patients, with cases of confirmation without symptoms of Covid-19 in Sorong Port.

The plan follows KM. Umsini which is used as floating isolation in the city of Makassar, and has been inaugurated on August 2, 2021.

It was also based on the results of a coordination meeting between the Sorong City Regional Government and the Ministry of Transportation, Directorate General of Sea Transportation Cq. Kesyahbandaran Office and Sorong Class I Port Authority held at the Sorong Mayor's Office, Tuesday (10/8/2021), and led directly by the Mayor of Sorong, Drs. Ec. L. Jitmau, M.M this.

Attended by the General Manager of PT. Pelindo IV Sorong, Branch Head of PT. Pelni Sorong, Sorong City Health Office, and Sorong Task Force at the meeting.

The move was taken in connection with the increase in cases of positive confirmation of Covid-19 in Sorong city which resulted in many people choosing to do Self-Isolation (Isoman) in their respective residences, and not being monitored by medical personnel which resulted in less maximum handling impact.

Based on the data collected by this media, KM. Sangiang is planned to arrive at Sorong Port on August 14, 2021.
