The National Sharia Council of the Indonesian Ulema Council (DSN MUI) is discussing fatwas related to online shopping activities. Secretary of the Daily Implementing Agency (BPH) DSN MUI Prof Jaih Mubarok said, there will be three fatwas issued soon towards the end of 2021.
"The three drafts have been arranged and in the process of internal discussion of DSN MUI," he told Republika.co.id, Tuesday (2/11).
The three fatwas are in one group, namely related to marketplace, dropship, and online shop which is seen from the aspect of sharia. There will be several accounts embedded in the online shopping activity.
Prof Jaih said, DSN MUI is also starting to work on fatwas related to BPJSTk in line with the planned implementation of SHARIA BPJSTk services in Aceh in early 2022. He said this fatwa allows publication at the end of the year and considers the existing BPJS Health fatwa.
In the Fatwa Commission of the Indonesian Ulema Council itself, there is one fatwa that is eagerly awaited because it is again widely discussed, namely crypto fatwas. Prof Jaih said cryptocurrencies are being discussed at the Fatwa Commission, which also involves DSN MUI as a member of the commission.
"It is still under investigation because according to respondents, the crypto is two. Some have underlying and some don't. The commission is still investigating cryptocurrencies that it says have underlyings. If there is an underlying, whether the underlying includes those in accordance with sharia provisions or not," he said.
Prof Jaih said the discussion and formulation of fatwas involved practitioners who are experts and active in the crypto industry. Last week, the MUI Fatwa Commission invited speakers from Bappebti and the crypto association, the Indonesian Crypto Asset Traders Association (Aspakrindo).
To date, DSN MUI has issued 143 fatwas. In 2021, DSN MUI endorsed five new fatwas on a number of current problems around Islamic finance at the Plenary Meeting of the DSN-MUI Governing Body held on August 19 and 24, 2021.
"Three fatwas related to marketplace, dropship, and online shop we prepare to later enter the plenary meeting plan in November 2021," he said.
The five fatwas passed last August, namely fatwa marketing insurance products based on Sharia principles, guidelines for the establishment and operation of Sharia cooperatives, and sharia securities offerings through information technology-based fund Urun services based on sharia principles, personal financing (at-tamwil asy-shakhsi / personal financing), and Islamic financial institution revenue during construction.
