In fighting for religion in society, there are always obstacles and challenges. It needs a wise strategy and attitude so that da'wah remains delivered. One of them is patience. This is the weapon that Kyai Qasim Bukhori used in his da'wah struggle.

KH. Qosim Bukhori was born in 1942 in Gondanglegi District of Malang Regency. Little Kyai Qosim grew up among the pesantren family. Early education is received from his own abah, KH. Bukhori Ismail. The father, a mursyid Thoriqoh Naqsabandiyah, taught the basics of religious science, especially the lesson of reading the Qur'an and its tajwid and the science of manners in life (al-moral al-karimah).

Since childhood, Kyai Qosim has always followed and often helped his father when worshiping. He used to bring teplok lights when Kyai Bukhori went to the mosque to perform evening prayers. "I don't know, I feel the same pity. And want to help him," he said at one time about his habit of often helping the abah.

Tholabul Ilmi

In 1950 Kyai Qasim studied at the nearby Miftahussa'adah Madrasah. The madrassa which was renamed Raudlatul Ulum madrasa was established by community leaders of Pahala village, among others, kh. Bukhori Ismail, KH. Yahya Syabrawi and KH. As'ad. In addition to studying at the madrassa, he also spent his childhood at Pondok Pesantren Raudlatul Ulum I which is located south of his house. This pesantren is fostered by Kyai Yahya Syabrawi who is none other than his own brother-in-law.

While in pesantren, the seriousness of Kyai Qosim Bukhori in studying religion has been seen, especially the science of Sufism. This is as he revealed to his sons and to the wider community on the occasion of study.

"I presented the book of Hikam by Shaykh Ibn Atoillah to Kyai Yahya Syabrawi more than ten times. Divide khatam, repeat. Share next. So if now he recites the book of Hikam only once, especially not khatam, yes there is nothing," he said.

Kyai Qosim not only "tabaruk ilmu" (looking for the barokah of knowledge) to your father, KH. Bukhori Isma'il and his brother-in-law, KH. Yahya Shabrawi, but he also preached to the oldest sibling, KH. Zainulloh Bukhori.

Kyai Qosim young in the period 1956 continued his religious education at Pondok Pesantren Darul Ulum Rejoso Peterongan Jombang which was fostered by KH. Ramli Tamim and his son KH. Mustain Ramli. These two teachers in addition to being seen as NU figures, also known as mursyid (spiritual guide) thoriqoh Qodiriyah Wa Naqshbandiyah. In 1963 he was boyong from pesantren which is one of the large boarding schools in Java.

The hunt for knowledge conducted by Kyai Qosim Bukhori did not stop there. He continued to travel with nyantri to KH. Mujib Abbas, Buduran Sidoarjo for one year. In addition, he had sat in college at IAIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya. But because the political conditions of Indonesia at that time were still chaotic by various rebellions carried out by the PKI, making the development of the world of education was no longer conducive. Therefore, Kyai Qosim Bukhori prefers to leave the realm of academia that he has been involved in for three years.
