The unconscious racism attitude is still happening right now in Indonesia. A researcher from Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) even said that until the next 10 years, this act of racism and intolerance is predicted to be exist still. CahyoPamungkasin a discussion on Conflict Resolution at the National and Regional Levels on Friday, October 30, 2020, stated, "Indonesia would face two major problems in the next 10 years, which are religious intolerance and separatism conflict in Papua. These political conflicts will haunt Indonesia for the next 10 years."

He also added that this kind of intolerance, identity, and radicalism are the ones that have been threatening the principle of diversity and nationalism. He said, "Persecution and expatriation of the Rohingya remind us that Indonesia did similar action towards minority groups, such as the Shia and Ahmadiyah. This is an example that we as a nation fails to protect minorities."

There have been these humanitarian crisis and political violence happening here, such as what happened in Wamena, Paniai, and Wasior, which has been going on since 1965, and those are the reasons why Papua wants to separate from Indonesia. "The Indonesian government has tried to overcome this, though. It was done by creating special autonomy and deploying military (TNI) and police personnel, which after all, these efforts failed to tackle what is expected to," said Cahyo.
