Bank Indonesia (BI) is optimistic that economic growth in quarter IV- 2020 will move into the positive zone. This was conveyed directly by the Governor of BI Perry Warjiyo at the West Java Investment Summit 2020.

Perry said Economic growth in the III quarter - 2020 showed an improvement in conditions from the previous quarter which was negative at 5.32%. He also believed that Indonesia's economy next year could grow up to 5 percent.

Should believe Indonesia's economic improvement will continue. Economic growth will be positive in the fourth quarter of 2020 and will increase to 5 percent in 2021, and continue to rise to around 6 percent in the next 5 years," Perry said.

The deputy finance minister SuhasilNazara, was expressed optimism that Indonesia will come out of the recession. The condition is the society should implement health protocols that are carried out more strongly, while waiting for government efforts to procure vaccines.

Suahasil said’’ recovery trend had been seen since the third quarter, when the economic contraction at the level of 3.49 percent was slower than the second quarter, minus 5.32 percent. The improvement of the Indonesian economy will be supported by improvements in private consumption, exports and investment. Then, financial system stability is also maintained. In fact, according to Perry, the rupiah exchange rate will move stable and tend to strengthen.

Inflation is low, the current account deficit has decreased, and the banking system is healthy, "he said.

Bank Indonesia and the government also Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) continue to coordinate closely to keep the economy moving positively.

The government's economic recovery program has also helped the economy move into the positive zone, Ferry said.
