The National Search and Rescue (Basarnas) deputy of search operations Maj. Gen. Bambang Suryo Aji on Wednesday, January. 13, announced the postponement of the evacuation of the crashed Sriwijaya Air SJ182 plane due to bad weather.

Basarnas has temporarily stopped the search for debris and the crash victims of the Sriwijaya Air SJ182 inKepulauanSeribu. The temporary suspension was due to less favorable weather.

The Deputy of Basarnas Search and Preparedness Operations, Major General TNI Bambang Suryo Aji, said that due to bad weather, the water level and sea waves reached 2.5 meters. This is very dangerous for the diving personnel.

Bambang explained that poor weather conditions had hampered the search operation early in the morning, with strong winds creating high waves measured up to 2.5 meters. The search will be halted until further notice.

"I just inform you, later if there are developments while waiting for the weather to be better. Maybe the team will also carry out a search for rescue operation, "he said.
