The Covid-19 pandemic changed the lives of many people, both from positive and negative aspects. So did Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Wilhelm Ott. The Austrian man received guidance during the Covid-19 pandemic and decided to become a convert.

Wilhelm Ott is known to have officially converted to Islam in April 2020. He announced he had become a convert via his personal Instagram @willi.ot.148. At the time, the 37-year-old man uploaded a video of him uttering syahadat.

Through the upload, Wilhelm Ott revealed his reason for becoming a Mualaf. He claimed the Covid-19 pandemic helped him find the Islamic faith.

"The Corona crisis helped me get the rest I needed to find faith. My faith is now strong enough to admit there is only one God and say the creed with pride," wrote Wilhelm Ott, quoted from My MMA News, Sunday (07/02/2021).

"Yes, I am now a Muslim. I too allow myself to be politically affected. However, through difficult times, the Islamic Faith helped me find strength," added the 19-18-1 record holder.

Not to forget, Wilhelm Ott thanked his fellow MMA fighter Burak Kizilirmak. Because, the Turkish fighter gave him the Holy Book of the Qur'an and prayer mats to get closer to religion.

I'm speechless to see a positive response from all of you. It's not my intention to seek this much attention," Wilhelm Ott continued.

"Actually, I'm going to take this video because people around me already know it," he said.

Furthermore, Wilhelm Ott admitted that he was so tormented by being hit by injuries for two weeks before uttering Syahadat. On the day when he officially converted, there was no misfortune.

“Di hari ke-15, saya tidak mengalami masalah apa pun. Itu adalah hari di mana saya mengucapkan dua kalimat syahadat dan bangga menjadi seorang Muslim. Allahuakbar. Setan ada di mana-mana. Berhati-hati lah,” tutup Wilhelm Ott.

"On the 15th day, I had no problem whatsoever. That was a day in which I wished two syahadat and was proud to be a Muslim. Allahuakbar. Demons are everywhere. Be careful lah," closes Wilhelm Ott.
