The story is the core of the first episode of Hidayah, a religious soap opera titled “Bodies Swept Into the River”. In the process of a difficult funeral, Ramdan's body was once swept through the river. Hidayah itself first aired in July 2005, after which it continued until 2012 with a total of 150 episodes. The premise of each episode is more or less the same, people who are not good in life will be rewarded when they die.
Hidayah is just one of the many religious soap operas with terrible plots. Other soap operas are Rahasia Ilahi (2004-2007), Pintu Hidayah (2005-2007), and Iman (2005-2006).
In fact, comedy drama soap opera turned into a soap opera doom in the third season, namely Si Yoyo 3 (2005-2007).

Academician of the Faculty of Film and Television (FFTV) Jakarta Arts Institute (IKJ), Satrio Pamungkas, assessed the shift in the premise of the story at least because of two things. First, in the medio 2000s the human mindset tended to change from traditional to contemporary.
"Because of that thought religion is not only seen from sharia in general, but in other ways. Finally religious soap operas change the pattern of the story by including a terrible story but still interesting," Satrio said when contacted by CNNIndonesia.com.

Satrio exemplified with the film Pengabdi Setan in 1980 ago. In the film it is shown satan as a terrible figure lost to ustaz who chanted the holy verses of the Quran, very black and white. So are a number of other horror films.
"If in this soap opera the doom is reversed, that man as a follower of Islam can make mistakes as well which ultimately leads to terrible. It used to be a terrible demon, then it turned into a horrible human being," Satrio said.
In addition, Satrio judged the story of the doom soap opera is not entirely original. Because the stories were inspired or adapted from Hidayah magazine. A religious magazine that chronicles the terrible torments of the dead.
Not only Satrio, Deddy Mizwar the movie maker who consistently makes religious soap operas also monitors the soap operas doom. According to him, the soap opera is less than ideal and like showing that Islam is a terrible religion.
"Then Islam is not the religion of rahmatan lil alamin, closed all doors robat. But there is room to repent. (Soap operas like that practice) because given continued, a thousand tadpoles will be a truth," Said Deddy.
He continued, "We should not be the group, just let the person, the motivation (make soap operas) others. What makes him not a Muslim, he does not understand and moreover his motivation is only money."
From the point of view of Islam, Ustaz Wahyul Afif sees religious soap operas from the past until now as a means of da'wah in the modern era. Both religious soap operas that are charged with comedy and containing terrible stories.
Religious soap operas, he said, is one form of the method of da'wah bil hikmah. That is, preach well through an approach that is in accordance with the target, so that da'wah can reach the target.
Surely not every target can be penetrated by the same way of preaching. For example, young children are better suited to Lorong Waktu because the story is classified as fantasy. Meanwhile, the soap opera doom is not suitable for small children.
"I think that the makers of this soap opera want people to know that there are people who experience unusual events because of what they do. It is real, especially for those of us who often deal with corpses," said Wahyul.
"But for us it's not worth telling, the important thing is to take the positive side. So when there is a soap opera doom, always take the positives only, do not take the negative side because we do not know what kind of grave," concluded Wahyul.
